Worshipping with Children

Prayground Logo

Christ Church has a special area up front on the right side of the Nave that we lovingly call The Prayground. It is a soft space where our younger members can participate in worship in their own way.

The Prayground is intentionally in the front of the Nave so that children can SEE and HEAR all that is happening during the Holy time of worship. We don’t want their vision obstructed or their budding memories to be of the backs of other parishioners’ heads!

We know for some families it might feel counterintuitive to sit up front with their sometimes wiggly young parishioners, but we have found that children will engage more in the service when they feel they are part of the service.

At The Prayground, you will find a kid sized table and chairs, crayons and coloring materials, playdough, children’s worship materials, fidget items, and other manipulatives for little hands. There are also additional Worship Resources for Children in the Breezeway to the Parish Hall.

We do ask families who use The Prayground to sit close by so they can encourage and assist their children. But the bottom line here is that we welcome all ages into worship with us at Christ Church Episcopal!

We look forward to sharing God’s peace with you soon!
