The Reverend Cecilia “Ceci” Duke has served as rector of Christ Church Episcopal since March 2009. Ceci, who was ordained to the priesthood by The Rt. Rev. Frank K. Allan on February 5, 2000, served in several parishes in the Diocese of Atlanta before coming to Christ Church. She has also served on the Commission on Ministry, the Commission on Education, the Commission for Church Development, and as a chaplain for the Daughters of the King from 2000 to 2003.
Ceci holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Va. Tech, Master’s and Specialist Degrees in School Counseling from Georgia State University, and a Master’s of Divinity from The Candler School of Theology of Emory University. Prior to her ordination to the priesthood, Ceci taught elementary school and served as a school counselor in the Gwinnett County School System.
Ceci is married to David Hughes Duke, a documentary film-maker, writer, and president of Duke and Associates. They have two sons, John and Craig. John received his undergraduate degree from Emory, his graduate degree from New York University, and currently works with David as a film-maker. Craig, who graduated from Florida State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Theory, is currently studying for a Master’s Degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Ceci’s family shares common interests in music and sports. David sings in the choir and co-chairs our Musical Theatre group, the “Christ Church Players.” Craig and John participate when available. Ceci loves to hike, garden, read, cook, and take care of her beloved pets.
