Lenten Series Program 2019

Beyond the written word, God’s scripture is expressed in two
languages – mathematics and music. John of Salisbury, Bishop
of Chartres observed in 1178 “The soul is said to be composed
of musical consonances” and through the laws of musical
proportion “the heavenly spheres are harmonized and the
cosmos governed, as well as man.”

Dr. Bob Danes will be
returning for our Lenten series, leading us in a lively exploration of song,
stories, artifacts, and examples of the history behind the music we sing each
week. Fractals? Set theory? Paul McCartney? Musical consonance and
dissonance? Bach? the Harmony of the Spheres? Leibniz? Aristotle? Euclid?
Pythagoras? Jewish mystics and gematria? Mystical and Magic numbers?
Jazz? Join Bob Wednesdays in March to find out who and what some of
these are and to learn how they connect and tell a story 800 years in the

Join us on the following Wednesday nights in the Parish Hall:
March 13th, March 20th, March 27, April 3rd, and April 10th. Dinner at
6pm, Program at 6:30pm, and Compline at 7:40pm.
