Rite 13
Rite 13 comprises the first two years of the Journey to Adulthood program. Through their activities, the young people in this group work to build and maintain relationships, establish the Church as a safe haven in the midst of a confusing adolescence, and foster an inclusive community which shares common experiences and memories. The class discusses topics related to prayer, images of God, images of self, wise decision-making, sexuality, faith and trust, and compassion and acts of mercy.

The goals are to 1) celebrate the transition from youth to adulthood, 2) explore the mystery of our faith heritage, and 3) deepen their connection to a community of faith. They explore the areas of Self, Society, Spirituality, and Sexuality as it relates to their faith in Jesus Christ.

In the final phase of the Journey to Adulthood program, this community of youth will complete their transition to adulthood. After examining themselves, discerning their spiritual gifts and their motivations for being a member of the faithful, they are challenged to commit to a ministry within their church or in the larger community. The goals emphasized are 1) establishing their ownership and participation in the ongoing life of the church, and 2) encouraging their stewardship of time and talent.
